History
Adding the rich geography of Brisbane is its historically rooted heritage. Brisbane is one of the earliest cities in Australia. It was founded on the ancient city of the aboriginal people of Turrbal and Jagera. Brisbane was named after the Brisbane River and equally after Sir Thomas Brisbane, who was the governor of New South Wales within 1821 to 1825. The city was once devoted to secondary offenders from Sydney Colony. The Austrialian frontier wars that ensued between the years 1843 and 1855 marred Brisbane. Other disasters that befell the city were the Great Fire of Brisbane and the Great Brisbane Flood. When Queensland became a colony and divorced New South Wales in the year 1859, Brisbane wore the laurel of being the capital.
